COACHING/TEACHING ARTIST — SERVICES

By lorindrexler

:: COACHING AND MENTORSHIP FOR CREATIVES ::

Hello and welcome! My work as a coach and mentor for artists is rooted in a lifetime of experience as a musician, writer, music producer, teacher, and collaborator. Over the years, I have guided artists in guitar, ukulele, songwriting, audio production, organization, habit building, and creative writing. But now my focus goes deeper—helping artists find their true path by developing necessary routines to engage their inner wisdom and voice.

My role is to meet you where you are and give you the tools, perspective, and confidence you need to navigate your artistic journey with independence and authenticity. Whether you are just beginning your path to becoming a professional, rediscovering your creative edge, or refining your voice as an experienced professional, we’ll work together to bring your vision or revision to life.

What I Offer

  • Artistic Coaching — Hands-on support to break through creative blocks, refine your craft, and deepen your artistic identity.

  • Creative Mentorship — Personalized guidance for writers, musicians, and multidisciplinary artists to help set goals, develop projects, and build creative momentum.

  • Project Development — From concept to completion, I’ll help you shape your work, whether it’s an original song, an album, a poetry collection, or a multimedia project.

  • Skill Building — Targeted training in songwriting, performance, music production, and/or creative writing to support your broader artistic goals.

My Approach

My methods are direct, customizable to your specific needs, and rooted in real-world experience. I don’t overwhelm with unnecessary theory. Instead, I provide precisely what you need to take the next step, or develop habits to learn what the next step is on your creative path. Every session is collaborative, built around your creative goals, and designed to leave you with both tangible results and the certainty you need to move forward independently.

Who I Work With

Focused beginners, emerging & intermediate-level artists, and established professionals, as well as organizations and communities that value creativity as a force for connection and transformation. I also collaborate with educators, cultural centers, and mission-driven nonprofits that aim to integrate the arts into learning, healing, and community building.

:: I OFFER SKILL SET TEACHING THROUGH ‘ZOOM MUSIC SUBSCRIPTIONS’ TOO! ::

I have been involved in music, writing, producing, teaching, mentoring, and coaching for the majority of my life. My goal is to help you gain an understanding of one or more of these facets and provide you with the tools you need to become your own guide as you continue on this path.

Below is a brief synopsis of my methods and offerings as a teacher:

Guitar/Ukulele & Songwriting
There will be very little music theory. I never needed much of it to write my own music, other than a few fundamental theories to get around successfully, so we won’t spend a whole lot of time on it. I have organized and constructed a course book to keep things lively and moving along efficiently. I call it NOTEbOOK. It’s great refresher material to revisit in the future as well.

I teach basic guitar & ukulele with professional appeal and rhythmic structure. My intention is to guide you in playing cover songs and creating your own original music using straightforward techniques. My objective, once we part ways, is for you to be independently confident playing other artists’ music and/or leave with an original song and be equipped to write on your own.

What you will need for our sessions:

  • Acoustic Guitar or Ukulele (or an electric if you have a small amp)
  • Instrument Tuner
  • Picks
  • Capo
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Notebook

Audio Engineering & Music Production
Although I graduated with high standing from SAE Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in audio engineering and possess the knowledge and technical skill set of an engineer, I teach fundamental principles on a need-to-know basis. I never needed extensive training to produce my own music, other than a handful of essential theories, so we won’t delve too deeply away from the goal of intentional creating. I teach beginner engineering, along with songwriting, song structure, and how to bring your tracks to life.

This service is suited for artists who want to learn how to record, mix, produce, and expand their creativity in a recorded format. My intention is to guide you to produce your own original music using straightforward techniques. My objective, once we part ways, is for you to leave with an entirely produced song and be equipped to create your own music in a recorded format.

What you will need for our sessions (we can discuss affordable options):

  • Apple Computer
  • DAW (Ableton/Logic Pro)
  • A/D Converter (Interface)
  • Mixing Headphones
  • Studio Monitors
  • MIDI controller
  • Pertinent Cables
